Maya Schindler
by the curticy of The Angel Collection

Born 1977, Israel. Lives and works in Los Angeles. Received her MFA from Yale University, School Of Art.

Maya Schindler's sculptures, made from simple constructive materials such as plexi glass, foam or plastic present play on words but in a polished sophisticated manner.

Schindler has paintings that evoke playfulness evident in her text sculptural pieces. Using familiar and almost iconic images such as clowns, hyenas, or baby chickens, Schindler uses this iconography explicitly to engage the viewer, challenging one to make their own conclusions and then realizing something completely different.

Maya Schindler has participated in solo and group exhibitions: Stoneface, Fellows of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA, In the Time Tunnel, Braverman Gallery, Tel Aviv, Israel, Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery, New York, NY, BY arts Project gallery, Tel Aviv, Israel and more.
